FYI: I don't know how vigilant y'all are about verifying your credit card statements, but if you see a charge from "Alertpay.com" it's fraudulant. Upon examining my recent statement, I discovered a $30 charge that I didn't have an accompanying receipt for. I then subjected my spouse to a thorough inquisition, which unfortunately yielded nada. So, I called the credit card company and was informed of the illigitimacy of the company listed...nice...like I havn't been kicked in the crotch enough this week. Good news is the card people were more than happy to delete my account and send me a new card. More good news, my shitty week can't be blamed on Middle Child Syndrome...I guess that's some progress with dealing with my condition.

Well this is a wee bit awkward...turns out "Alertpay.com" is not ...fraudulant...at all. Ooops. See, apparently, Gomusicnow.com out-sources there financial work to other companies. After calling the credit card company, they did tell me that the 411 on Alertpay that they were able to gather was not enough for them to be comfortable not tagging that charge as fraudulant. So...go with Code Red and all that. Then after mentioning this situation to someone, that person told me the same charge appeared on his statement, but he thought it might be from his new Gomusicnow account. Click. Ah. I again reviewed my statement, checked the date of the charge, which corresponded to the date I renewed my existing account with Gomusicnow, and realized my blunder; I neglected to make a notation of this with my other monthly receipts. Crap. This is the same thing I give my wife shit about not doing every month when I reconcile the statment. Time to eat some crow and wash it down with humble pie. And get the lady some flowers. As a suppliment to the anniverary flowers, not in place of...nice try...duely noted. So...I get new cards in the mail, edit all my online billing accounts, call the credit card company to explain, make sure the nice folks at Gomusicnow get their money back. But just out of curiosity, or perhaps vanity, cuz I was fairly certain the...mistake...was not entirerly my fault, just being cautious ya know, I went back in my statement archives to check what the name of the company was when I first signed up for Gomusicnow. It was not Alertpay.com. (q the spooky, ironic music) And interestingly enough, the new charge from Gomusicnow that will appear on my next statement is yet another name...yeah but...and than...I thought that... But, lesson learned, I duely made a note of it. And even more interesting, when one renews an account on Gomusicnow's site, a popup informs one of the charge name that will appear on one's statement...awkward...
