...wow...how can one even compare these 5? They're all completely different types of movies. I will say this though; Social Network, good movie, great performances, but if you have already followed the real news stories about Facebook, et al, then no need to spend precious time viewing this one.

...just saw "The Fighter." Definately Oscar Worthy! Christian Bale gave a hell of a performance. Mark Wahlberg...all cut and pumped and desperate to get a better life...great stuff. The story was nice and gritty, full of white trash, and I'm just spitballing here but, Amy Adams is still hot as a white trash bar tender. CB really got into character with this one; dropping all that weight, acting a wee bit nutty, even talking like the real-life Dicky...now go eat something, man. And cool soundtrack too.

Thanks Jfitz, I need to add the fighter to my most want to watch list. What a great endorsement for that movie. I wouldn't mind a white trash story!

I have to say that it is also on my list and I actually have an app where I could watch it on my phone. I have withheld which is hard since I am quite a Christian Bale fan going all the way back to his Newsies days. I guess we may have our next candidate.

...watched "Black Swan" last night...uh, got Mommy issues? Yikes. I don't like ballet. As an art form or a dance format, it doesn't speak to me. I wasn't familiar with the story of Swan Lake. But because of all of the Oscar buzz, I decided to Queue it up on Netflix. Yes, I was seduced by the hype. Sorry, Patience. I thoroghly enjoyed this film. Dark, psychy, sexy, and I learned something new. Win, win. The direction was cool, the cinematography was edgey, the art direction was interesting. And hey, I'm just spitballing, but, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in a sex scene...hey-o!! The rest almost doesn't matter, right? As far as the Natalie-hating, I offer this as an objective rebuttal; she was nominated for an Oscar for acting performance, not for dancing. So, I say she definately earned that statue. And besides, would you not award an Oscar to someone who used a stunt double? Fundamentaly, it's the same as her having a dance double. All in all, really cool film. A day later, I'm still wondering if certain events in the film actually happened, or maybe only in her mind...whoa...

Yup, China is definately afraid of creativity and truth and free-thinking. With good reason, if your into totalitarianism; look what's going down in the Mid East; the current regimes, that's what! Fistpump!!!

...haven't seen "The Hurt Locker" yet, not sure if I will, a co-worker, who has similar tastes in movies to me, expressed dissapointment in this one, said certain scenes, and even the characters, were gratuitous. Now, "Jarhead" was enjoyable, as far as war movies go. It was a different take, in that, the characters didn't see any action. There were no battle scenes. It was all anticipation of an enemy contact. I thought that was unique.

...watched "Stone" the other night. It stars Robert DiNero and Ed Norton. I give this one The Three D's; Dull, Disappointing, Don't Bother. I'm just spitballing here, but I think DiNero's best days are behind him. I thought; "OK, cool, Ed Norton in a prison role...nice and edgy." Then after I watched it, "Yeah, not so much." He was actually really good as a guy trying to get out of prison on parole. He was coniving, squirly, and desparate, but not quite enough of those traits to carry the movie. And DiNero was not all that believable as a quasi-religious parole officer. Just spitballing.

I'm just spitballing here, but, you don't need to be a country music fan to enjoy "Country Strong." Gweneth Paltrow delivered a great performance as an alcohlic, and Tim McGraw was great as her asshole husband. He's really coming into his own as an actor. And Gweneth's voice...wow! really good voice. I love when a performance is so good you forget that you're watching a movie. I could really feel her pain and just wanted to reach out to her and tell her what she needed to hear. And then I really wanted to punch her husband right in the fucking mouth for being such a DB!
